Autumn in New York

One thing I miss about living on the east coast is autumn in New York. Autumn in New Jersey was always my favorite, but there's something about the changing of the season in the city that always seemed a bit magical (and that magic continues when New York gets ready for Christmas). It was in New York that I had my first ever salted caramel hot chocolate while walking through a weekend farmer's market in Union Square, and so when the opportunity for us to visit New York arose, I couldn't say no.

Tor has only been to New York a handful of times, and I try to make sure with each visit that I bring him to a new spot in the city. Autumn in New York is the perfect time to explore the city, as it's not to hot anymore and everyone is back in school. Since Tor kept mentioning he had never been to Brooklyn, I had a plan to take him to lunch in Greenwich Village and then head into Brooklyn for an afternoon. As I mentioned in my travel vlog, I used to live in Brooklyn Heights which wasn't far from Park Slope. Brooklyn used to be my stomping grounds, so I was very excited to get the chance to bring Tor around the neighborhoods little 18-year old Alyssa used to walk around. [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="14103,14104"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="14105,14108"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="14109,14106"] At this point, autumn in New York had been pretty disappointing. It's been an abnormally warm autumn season, so the leaves were still basically green in mid-October when they should have been hues of yellow and orange. But after walking a few blocks of Park Slope, we came across one neighborhood full of trees that were losing colorful leaves. To say I was excited is an understatement. Finally, my first taste of autumn of the season and something to trigger happy memories of autumn in New York from years before. The view was different than when I used to call this city home. New skyscrapers have been built and are being built, and the Freedom Tower reigns supreme downtown. As I walked with my husband alongside the water looking out towards metropolis, I couldn't help but admire New York and all of her changes over the years. I am wearing the Free People overalls in this post, and it sadly looks like the red color is now sold out! There’s a chance they may restock, so keep checking back. In the meantime, these overalls are soooooo comfy and I have the stark black ones currently in my cart. But I did find a similar red overalls here: http://bit.ly/2A4VjQ0

Hi! I bought the Clare v alistair but it hasn’t even been a day yet and there are already scratches. How does yours look now? Did you put a leather polish on it? Thanks!
