Santa Barbara Getaway

Believe it or not, prior to scouting venues for our wedding, I had never been to Santa Barbara. After we found our venue in Santa Barbara County, I kept asking myself why I had never been to Santa Barbara before. I had heard nothing but great things about Bacara Resort & Spa from friends who had previously stayed there. One of my close friends actually got married there several years ago. So when I thought about the perfect weekend getaway spot, I knew I wanted it to be in Santa Barbara and my first choice was Bacara Resort & Spa. We were only going to be there for 24 hours but it was enough for a lovely weekend away from Los Angeles.Alyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaAlyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaBacara was kind enough to put us up in a signature suite that had a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean through picturesque palm trees. It was the perfect home away from home for the night.Alyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaAlyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaAlyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaShortly after check in, we took a walk around the resort. From beautiful architecture to colorful tiles to perfect flowers in bloom, it's no wonder why Bacara is a highly sought after spot to take a getaway.Alyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaAlyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaAlyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaAlyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaAlyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaAlyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaAlyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaBefore dinner, we enjoyed a lovely wine tasting at The Foley Wine Tasting Room. I absolutely love wine tastings, and having a tasting room at the resort was a great perk. After the wine tasting, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at The Bistro. The main restaurant was under renovation but The Bistro was still a perfect dinner spot (I ate a whole bowl of garlic smashed potatoes!).

Bacara had suggested their signature Bacara Body Melt. I'm usually a simple hot stone massage fan, but the words "body melt" intrigued me. After a full body exfoliating massage, I was placed in a Swiss shower to wash off the scrub before I was given a second full body massage with a soothing lotion. I now know why it's called a "body melt" because my skin felt like butter. Alyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaTo end our getaway, we spent an hour on the spa's rooftop with champagne enjoying their mud bar. After applying the detoxing mud, you lay out in the sun while it hardens. Once it hardened, we showered off the mud and then spent ten minutes in the steam room before applying a soothing lotion. I don't think my skin has ever felt better. I would go back to Bacara just to experience that spa day all over again! Alyssa Campanella The A List blog Miss USA 2011 Santa Barbara Bacara Resort & SpaIn all, it was a perfect weekend away from Los Angeles with my girls. I can't believe it's only two hours away from my house. Next time I will have to go for more than just 24 hours since there is so much more to experience at Bacara.

Thank you to Bacara Resort & Spa for their hospitality.
