Aisle Style: Asking My Bridal Party + Giveaway!

I'm sure you've noticed that I recently created a new category on The A List - all about weddings! In today's post, I am sharing how I asked my bridesmaids if they will stand by my side on my wedding day by sending them sweet, sentimental handwritten cards. [show_shopthepost_widget id="959158"] Since becoming engaged this spring, suddenly my life shifted focus a bit. Not only have we just bought a house, but now we need to start thinking about a wedding. Most little girls dream of their wedding day, but now the moment is finally here where it's no longer a dream but a reality. Marriage is super important and sacred to me, so when it came to choosing my bridal party I chose those who are super close to both T and I, and I couldn't have asked them a better way. I thought a personal, handwritten card was both sentimental and emotional (two of my bridesmaids cried when they received their cards!). Believe it or not, I asked my bridesmaids if they would stand beside me at my wedding before we even started looking at dates and before we even began searching for venues! What's no secret is that I asked my sister Jessica to be my maid of honor (okay so technically she's married which makes her a "matron" of honor but we are still calling her my "maid" of honor). I stood beside her just a few months ago as her maid of honor, and now the roles have been switched. She has always known she would be my maid of honor whenever I got married, but sending her a card asking her formally if she would be my maid of honor was a beautiful moment. I recently got engaged in Disney World! It was perfect planned with the Epcot ball as our backdrop! My fiancé totally surprised me! I am really excited you are sharing wedding ideas! I have been following you for a while and my outfit inspiration comes from you on a daily basis!

I am having both a Maid of Honor and a Matron of Honor simply because I could not pick just one! My childhood friend from elementary school and my baby cousin, both have been the sisters I have never had! I could not image saying I do without them by my side! They are the 2 girls I call when I am happy, excited, sad, need advise and etc. I love those cards, they are perfect way to personalize a very important question!

Please continue to share wedding ideas! I am going to need all the ideas I can get! 🙂

Oh my gosh that’s so adorable (and magical!). I used to want to get married at Walt Disney World. I guess a part of me still does! That’s definitely a moment you’ll always remember and now Disney World will have an extra special place in your heart!
I am excited to hear you’re looking forward to more wedding posts! I am truly touched and cannot wait to share more throughout my planning process!

  3. Sarra

My maid of honor would without a doubt have to be my sister – not because she’s my sister, but because she’s also my best friend!

The cards are beautiful and an excellent way to ask people to be in your bridal party.

    • The A List

That’s so sweet Sarra! I feel the same way!

  4. Brooke S

I love that you made asking so personal! I’m engaged and have been thinking a lot about how I want to ask my bridesmaids! I am so glad you made a whole new category for weddings on your blog. I look forward to all of your wedding inspiration! For the giveaway, I have to say that my maid of honor will be my best friend Tiffany. We have been friends since 4th grade! We have literally been through everything together, from dreaming of our wedding days as little girls, to proms and graduations and all the guys in between. We have always been there for each other. Tiffany is actually the one who introduced me to my fiance and thought that we would make a good couple! I owe her so much, making her my maid of honor is the least I can do! I wouldn’t want it any other way!

    • The A List

That’s such a sweet story, Brooke! That’s also so touching that she introduced you to your fiancé! Also I am so excited that you’re excited about my new Weddings category 🙂

  5. Karen

I love these cards! My maid of honour will be my sister-I was her MoH earlier this year 🙂 My bridesmaids are going to be my future sister-in-law & 2 closest friends. One of my friends lives in a different country & we haven’t actually seen each other in person in 5 years – I’ve been thinking about the best way to ask her & these cards would be perfect! 🙂
I’m looking forward to reading your wedding planning posts! 🙂 x

    • The A List

Hi Karen! I definitely know all about long distance bridesmaids – none of mine live in the same city (or state!). I am glad I could provide some inspiration!

Such a special idea! Posts like these are why I’ve been following you- you come across as a genuine, caring and very “real” person. I’m already married, so can’t enter this giveaway, but I need to ask…would u consider blogging about kids fashions?! (I can desperately use some ideas for my 3 little ones!)

    • The A List

Aww thank you, Shira! At this time I have no plans to talk about kids fashions especially since I do not have any children of my own so I am not well versed in that department, but if T and I ever decide to have a family you can definitely count on some style posts for youngsters then! 😉

  9. Kate H

I would ask both my older sister and my younger sister. There is no way I could choose between my main ladies! 🙂

    • The A List

When you have two sisters I can totally get why you would have two maid of honors! One of my friends just did this and it was so sweet!

  10. Julie

My sister is my maid of honor

    • The A List

Yay just like mine! So sweet 🙂

  11. Teresa

I would ask my good friend, Willa. We’ve known each other for over 15 years, and she is the sweetest person ever!

  12. Lorelei

My roommates in college and my golden retriever 🙂

  13. Oliver Dalmata

The dresses are gorgeous and it would be so easy for the ladies in my bridal party. I ve got a closet full of bridesmaids dresses I ll never wear again so am hesitant to ask my ladies to buy something but it would be fun to have a cohesive look, so it seems like Style the Aisle would be perfect!
