Summer Wedding Style

As a recent newlywed myself, and with summer being a popular time of the year for weddings, I've been asked frequently what's an appropriate dress to wear to a wedding as a wedding guest? It all depends on what the dress code and your personal style preference is, but one of my favorite staples is a classy dress that's fun to dance in.

There are a few golden rules to follow when it comes to attire for a wedding guest. As a recent bride, I know how important it is to respect the bride and groom's wishes (at the same time, we knew that we couldn't truly dictate how a person chooses to dress). Never wear white. That goes for male guests, too. Unless the bride and groom specifically request that their guests wear white, generally just know that white is completely off the table. White is a color reserved for the bride (and in my case, my bridesmaids). I attended a wedding last year where a member of the family wore a dress with a dramatic, plunging neckline. Not only was it tacky and classless, but it also is asking for attention to be taken away from the bride and groom. It shows respect, no matter which religion you personally practice (or not). You can remove the cover up after the ceremony. Black is typically a mourning color, and unless you're in mourning for the groom's bachelor life, try to wear a brighter, happier color. You cannot go wrong with a simple, floral dress for a summer wedding. This dress gives me Jackie O. vibes, one of the classiest women in history. Pair it with simple heels and a simple clutch and you're ready to celebrate the newlyweds in style!
