Last Minute Holiday Look

If you're like me, finding the perfect holiday look at the last minute is pretty much the norm. I've been so busy preparing to host Christmas at our house this year (for the first time ever!) as well as finishing all of our Iceland blog posts and videos that I realized I had not yet planned my holiday outfit! I really loved my look last year, but this year I decided to pop the red a bit more!

Lafayette 148 NY coat (old, last seen here; similar here, here, and here), Talbots sweater and plaid flats c/o (both on sale!), Club Monaco skirt (on sale!), ASOS sunglasses, Topshop beret, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Charlotte Tilbury lipstick

As a child, dressing up for Christmas was always a big deal. Since I am Danish, my family celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day always feels like the "day after Christmas", if you know what I mean, since we celebrate on December 24. One thing I always loved about celebrating Christmas with my Danish side of the family was how we would all dress up - no jeans allowed! Looking back on it, we pretty much had our own version of a Downton Abbey Christmas at my Mormor's house every Christmas Eve! With that said, I am all about dressing up for the holidays. [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="15008,14995"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="15000,15002"] For my look this year, I am keeping it simple by mixing different shades of red. It's not a groundbreaking look, but it's definitely a sharp holiday look! Red is that perfect holiday color that can go with anything, especially green or white. For my holiday look, I am wearing red and white that basically makes me look like a young Mrs. Claus... but in a good way! I paired this super cozy red cashmere sweater with the perfect red skater skirt, giving me enough fabric to twirl in under the tree (or mistletoe!). This sweater is so soft and warm and will definitely be worn a lot this upcoming winter season. I also love this sweater and this sweater from the same brand.
[gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="15004,15001"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="15007,14996"] I didn't think it would be so difficult to find the perfect red skirt for a holiday look, but it was a bit! Then again, I am extremely picky and really only prefer skirts that have movement. Gotta be able to do a few twirls! I absolutely love this red skirt and plan on wearing it more often with other colors besides red. I also love this maxi skirt and this velvet skirt, too. I almost paired my skirt with my green turtleneck sweater, which also would be a great holiday look. I actually may do that for either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day!
[gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="15005,14998"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="15006,15003"] One thing that can also be grabbed for the perfect last minute holiday look are cute shoes, such as these adorable plaid flats with a faux fur pom. These shoes are so appropriate for the holidays! They make me want to tap my heels and my toes like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and are the best finishing touch on any holiday look.

Also – my family is French so we also dress up for Christmas! It wouldn’t be Christmas without it. We have a nice Christmas dinner on the 24th but open gifts the 25th morning, so Christmas lasts over the 2 days really 😉
