Colorful Trench Cloak

There was one look I was looking forward to the most on our Finland trip, and that was this look in my colorful trench cloak by Lindsey Thornburg. I love the idea of cloaks, and I knew wearing one while surrounded by snow and pink sunsets would make for the perfect outfit. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I squealed about this colorful trench cloak on my Stories just before our trip. It was worth the squeal!   Lindsey Thornburg's cloaks first caught my eye when I saw a friend wrapped in a Pendleton blanket on Instagram. The blanket looked warm and very colorful, so when I did some research on a blanket to bring to Finland, I found myself intrigued and excited to see some of those blankets had been converted into cloaks! Cue my excitement dance! I couldn't decide between different patterns, so I have a feeling another cloak is about to join my closet in the future. I knew this cloak would stand out the best in the snow during one of Finland's famous sunsets (but this one was my second choice!). It was officially going to be my favorite outerwear piece on our trip. What I love most about Lindsey Thornburg's cloaks aren't just the colorful patterns, but those dramatic hoods. When the temperatures drop below freezing, those large wool hoods are able to keep my head warm. Wearing my colorful trench cloak in Finland gave me all sorts of "Sansa Stark in Winterfell" vibes. I may or may not have turned to Tor at some point and whispered, "Winter is here." Tor can always tell when I have found a key piece in my wardrobe that actually gives me joy. He chuckles as I squeal and cannot stop twirling or frolicking. Hey, I can't help it if fashion makes me excited, especially when we are in the most beautiful, picture perfect setting. We had landed in Rovaniemi, Finland just in time for the sunset. In Lapland (northern Finland), the sun sets around 3 pm in January but not before some dramatic pink, orange, and purple colors paint the sky. While surrounded by snow, the forest, and not one sound in the world except for the crunching of the snow beneath our feet, we took a moment to appreciate the silence, the isolation, and the beauty around us. As I sit here in the SoCal heat and reflect on our snowy evening in the forest, I find myself yearning for it so badly. I'll just have to go back, won't I? Stay tuned for more Finland posts coming this week!
