Travel Style

One thing I never really share is what I wear when I travel and I know my travel style has been a sort of a mystery. Today's blog post coincides with an actual travel day, so I felt it more than appropriate to share some of my favorite pieces to wear while en route to a new destination.

Even in warmer weather, I will wear layers when traveling on a plane. My travel style always consists of some sort of sweater. I get cold on planes without fail, even in the dead middle of summer. When we flew to Mexico in June, I wore this Wildfox sweater. Don't worry, I had a tank on underneath so I could take the sweater off once we landed in hot and sunny peninsula! [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="13531,13536"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="13538,13533"] This Alice & Olivia coat has quickly soared to my favorite sweater coat of all time. It's incredibly comfortable and naturally I am in love with the pink color. Not only does this sweater coat keeps me stylish on the plane, but it also keeps me stylish and chic in comfort at my destination. I can wear a tee or tank underneath in case it gets too warm, but let's face it, I get incredibly cold when I travel! [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="13549,13546"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="13537,13550"] As someone who travels often, the right carry on bags are important. While I always travel with my international carry on roller bag, my purse varies between a tote or a backpack. This Cuyana backpack is my favorite because not only does it go with everything, but it can store a lot! I am the type of traveler who likes to overpack my carry on personal item since it'll be with me at my seat. Everything from my glasses case to my contact lens solution to my iPad to my 100 chapsticks and 10 million pens to medicines that can cure anything from a simple blister to the flu goes into my bag, and this backpack fits everything! There's also a set featuring the backpack with a chic scarf and matching laptop sleeve here that makes the perfect travel set! [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="13539,13532"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="13543,13544"] Today I am currently en route to Atlanta where I will meet up with Tor who has been busy filming The Originals. He has the week off, so we will be heading to Charleston and Savannah, two cities on our bucket lists for the last little while. Tor has never been to South Carolina and I last visited in 2005, so this will be an exciting new trip together! Recently, with all your travel guides and stories, I have been thinking of how I miss your Instagram shots taken at the Airport when your about to fly off on a trip.

This post is really nice. Tips for travel are essential and compliment your travel guides and stories really well.
    Very much enjoyed.

Are you going to do some décor posts that you have mentioned in the past?

    • The A List

I had to stop the airport and boarding pass/passport pics because I had a case of a few stalkers, so for security reasons I was advised to no longer post pics from the airport.

I will be doing decor posts soon. We’ve put our renovations on hiatus for many reasons, and two of them are we do not have the time and we keep changing the layout of the floor plan.

This style really suits you and I really love it, your coat is beautiful!! This is exactly what I like to wear to travel: a comfy yet still stylish outfit. And you look so pretty! 🙂

      Thank you, Victoria!

It’s always useful to get advice on what to wear that is both stylish yet warm and comfortable as airplanes are always cold!! As someone who has the tendency to over pack that carry on looks great and if it really does fit everything that’s even better! Good luck with your solo flight as you have previously posted you are not to comfortable with it! A good book always helps me.

      Thank you, Ariana!

I’m flying down to Orlando in December and I super excited but it will only be my second time flying. I’m already planning ahead, to what outfits I’ll wear to the plane there and back! This post is a perfect accompaniment to my current thought process and I have a cozy, oversized grew cardigan that will do perfectly for the flight!

    • The A List

An oversized cardigan is my favorite thing to wear while traveling because you can always use it again while at your destination 🙂

  5. Amber De Smet

I adore your style! Wish I had enough courage to wear such things 😕 Anyway have fun! Ps: could you make a blog with styling tips for young girls with a low budget 😘

Hi Amber! Thank you so much! And I usually post low budget options within the shopping widgets in blog posts. My style is a mix of high and low fashion, so I try to keep it even on the site.

Sometimes I think my favourite part of the trip is getting my travel clothes on! I love to wear a cozy sweater or cardigan as well because I am always freezing! Leggings and sneakers are a must too for comfort! I usually have a pair of fuzzy socks to slip on because I always take my shoes off once I’m in the airplane and I don’t want my feet to get cold!

    • The A List

Today I broke my cardinal rule of being dressed while traveling and I wore my lounging pajama pants on the plane today. Sometimes even just the right sweater and right loungewear can make the flight much more comfortable!

Question for you: what is the fiber makeup of the sweater coat? It doesn’t say on the website, but I figured you must have it on a tag? I think it looks gorgeous, but would really want to know that before I pulled the trigger. Also I am a knitter and was wondering if I could figure out a DIY copy.
    Thanks!

    • The A List

I believe it is 62% nylon, 36% viscose, 2% elastane. It’s very warm. I feel like I am in a cocoon when I wear it, which is what I like 🙂

  8. Sabrine

Love the outfit! Simple, yet chic and the colors coordinate and suit you really well! 😀 Love the ponytail on you as well, nice change! 🙂
