It’s officially February, which means it’s the month of love! But T and I are the type of couple who feel Valentine’s Day should be celebrated not only in February but all year long. However, it is also nice to celebrate one day dedicated solely to the love of your life and the love you share together with millions of other couples around the world.
Valentine’s Day is a very interesting holiday for T and I since we have not actually celebrated it together in a couple of years. T’s filming schedule and my NYFW schedule always overlap the holiday each year. Despite spending many times apart a year due to our work schedules, we have discovered that it keeps our relationship exciting and healthy. Distance does make the heart grow fonder, and every day together feels like an adventure (even if it just involves Flip or Flop reruns on HGTV).
But it was Valentine’s Day 2011, only a few months into our relationship, that T and I took a last minute trip to snowy Whistler, and it was on that trip that we both realized we were falling for each other. Falling in love is a beautiful – albeit scary – feeling and that love has taken us to where we are now.
Fast forward five years, we are now planning a wedding and have created a home together. At this point in our lives and our relationship, we feel married already and in our hearts. To be honest, the only thing that’ll change the day we get married is my last name. I’m so lucky to have found a man like T and to love and be loved the way we do.
