Beauty Secrets: Skin Serums

One of the most popular questions I get is: "How do you get your skin so clear and smooth?" To be honest, there are a lot of factors that play into getting clear and smooth skin, but lately I've discovered what seems to be my skin's secret to staying clear, healthy, and hydrated - skin serums! They're lighter than a moisturizer but, in my opinion, I think they tackle right into the skin a lot faster. The A List Blog Alyssa Campanella Skin Care SerumsNatural skin no makeup skin careOrganic Skin Care Nordic Beauty Healing Oil Serum I have been reading in several beauty magazines about the rise in popularity of skin serums and how some were more effective than your average moisturizer. I'm always eager to try new things, so the very first serum I bought for my skin was from Nordic Beauty. I first discovered them on Instagram and decided to try their Healing Face Oil Serum (I've previously mentioned this serum before here). It's organic (a HUGE plus for me!), plus made with sunflower oil, prickly pear seed oil, neroli oil, and even Norwegian cod liver oil. It's a bit pricey, but I've been using my bottle for months and look how much is still left! A little bit goes a super long way. Alyssa Campanella Skin Care Skin Inc One of my latest discoveries is Skin, Inc. They are known for their custom serum blends. That's right - you can create your own custom serum blend that best works for your skin! I first discovered them at Sephora, but they have many more products on their website as well! The very first serum I tried was their Vitamin C serum, since it's supposed to tackle pores. My pores around my nose and cheek are quite obnoxious so I decided to give this serum a try. After a couple weeks, I noticed a major difference! My pores were not gone completely but they were noticeably much smaller. At that point I was hooked. I then created my own serum of Vitamin C (for pores - also available here), Chlorella (to brighten - also available here), and Hyaluronic Acid (for hydration - also available here). I also use the Vitamin A serum (also available here) around my eyes to reduce dark spots. It's also super addicting watching the colorful spots in the serums come out of the dropper! But these serums are different - they are to be added to your own moisturizer for an extra kick. Just add a couple drops, mix, and apply to your face. I use their Vitamin E + Chamomile Serum (for calming since I do have sensitive skin) occasionally when my skin is feeling a bit irritated, but they also have Vitamin F + Neroli (hydration), Vitamin C + Lemongrass (brightening), and Vitamin A + Jasmine (anti-aging). You can also mix these in with your primers or foundations to get a dewy skin look. I've been seeing amazing reviews about it and a lot of critics giving it 5 stars so I am anxious to try it. My turn to ask you: What is your beauty secret? Do you have a secret weapon to keep your skin clear and smooth?

Ahh, so many things for me to try! Thank you so much for this post!

Have you heard of Living Libations?! A year ago, my skin was a mess and I was watching Divergent (with Shailene Woodley) and thought.. “Ok, I have to look up what she uses on her skin because she is so beautiful.” And that led me to Living Libations.

It’s a 100% cruelty-free & organic brand with products handmade by a couple in Ontario, Canada. I started using their oil cleanser “Seabuckthorn: Best Skin Ever” & right away I could see why it was their most popular item. It has done wonders for my skin – especially in regards to balancing it. I think you’d really like it, as well as their Rose Glow Creme!! Check it out 🙂

P.S. THEY MAKE RAW ORGANIC CHOCOLATE TOO!!

Wow! Thanks Jaleese! I will have to research them! Yes I agree, Shailene Woodley has incredible skin!

There is a store called lush that has the best products that are really natural. They have THE BEST face masks and cleansers; my face hasn’t had one bad breakout since I’ve started using the cleansers! And they have a ton of stuff and something for every skin type

I am a huge fan of Lush! However some of their products contain almonds or almond oil and I have a severe nut allergy, so I am finding myself more limited with their products these days. But I am glad it works for you! They’re great and I love that they are cruelty free!

My favorite Serum is C E Ferulic Combination Antioxidant Treatment. Very pricey but it’s worth it!

I will have to check it out, Lena! Thanks!

You can try Bioderma sébium pore refiner for your pores. I’ve been using it a for a while & love the results. It tightens the pores and refines the skin texture.

Since 2014 I am using only one product: Paul Irene 2.5% Retinol serum. It’s like a gel but I really love it! Paul Irene serum has also double size of Hyaluronic Acid and maybe this is why it is so great product. My skin is firmer and in much better condition. Natural and Organic ingredients work better than their conventional counterparts because they don’t contain unnecessary fillers or irritants. So this is my advice for everyone.

For me Paul Irene 2.5% Retinol is the BEST 🙂

    Very helpful tips. Thank you.
I gonna try Nordic Beauty serum. 🙂
