Roses Without A Thorn

In one of my recent Instagram posts as well as my recent Facebook Live Q&A, I promised to share with you some of my current favorite skin care products as we transition into fall! Lately, they all involve roses! Roses are synonymous with beauty, so I find it only appropriate to love rose-filled skin care products.

My love for roses began very recently, after we discovered that my cats are allergic to two of my favorite flowers - peonies and tulips (my poor babies kept vomiting up petals). Obviously, my cats' health takes precedence over my choice of flowers in the house, but I discovered they aren't allergic to roses. Fun fact: My favorite rose is the garden rose, as it has nearly triple the layers and petals of a regular rose (and looks related to the peony). Each night to me is like taking my face to the spa, making sure it's well taken care of and pampered. Roses are known to be calming and gentle on the skin, so it should come as no surprise that some of my current favorite skin care products feature roses. On a recent Sephora visit shortly after my honeymoon, I came across this cleanser. It's probably hands down one of my favorite facial cleansers. I use it morning and night. It is a very creamy cleanser with exfoliating beads that buffs away dead skin cells and brightens my face, but it's gentle enough to use twice a day. It's probably my favorite skin care product on my vanity right now. Shortly before my honeymoon in May, I read an article where Karlie Kloss says she swears by this mask whenever she travels. Considering I was traveling to and from Europe from Los Angeles (11 hour flights!), I needed a really good moisturizing mask, and boy is it good! I first applied it on my flight from New York to Madrid, and my skin never felt better on a travel day! It's incredibly hydrating and gives my skin a quenched look without looking oily (and it smells amazing!). I put it on every night and leave it on overnight so it gets completely absorbed into my skin. I wake up with very hydrated, smooth, and bright skin. I am obsessed! She knows how much I enjoy a good face mask when I indulge in a bath, so she picked up this face mask for me. To me, it's a nice little bonus to pamper my skin with before applying the Black Rose Cream mask. I sometimes have flare ups of redness on my face, and this rose mask tames it. It's also just super relaxing! It's ultra soft, delicate, and feminine, and it reminds me of an English rose garden (my favorite!). Before my husband left for Spain last weekend, I sent him off with one of my shirts that I spritzed with this perfume - that's how much I love it! What a lovely post! I had just had my mother purchase the Roses by Chloe perfume to give me for my birthday next month when you mentioned fragrances in your Facebook Live Q&A. My first thought was, “Oh no! I’m going to have to get her to buy something different that Alyssa recommends”…but then you recommended the one I had already chosen! xx

I went to go check out Roses by Chloé today after reading what you had to say about it, and ending up purchasing it because it smelled so beautiful! I love it!

Do you find that the Korres cleanser is gentle? I have very fair skin that can turn red really easily. Love this post and your blog!

    Hi Alyssa,
Thank you so much for creating this page! I’m following you very closely when it comes about face products. At one moment I was disperate because I didn’t know what to use.. Nothing worked for me. I have a very sensitive skin due to a chemical burn I had a few years ago. Also… Very prone to acnee. Thank you again! You are very sweet!
