Easy & Stylish Outfit Ideas for Miss USA

When the date and location was first announced for the Miss USA pageant this year, I posted a blog post about some necessities the contestants will most likely need while competing, based on my experience. Now, with Miss USA 2014 fast approaching (the pageant is June 8, 2014 on NBC at 8 pm EST but the girls arrive in Baton Rouge on May 25), I have been receiving several messages from contestants on what to wear when they arrive in Louisiana for the two week pageant especially for rehearsals. As a former contestant and former Miss USA, I can completely relate to and understand their slight panic about wardrobe. Everyone wants to look their best, especially with all eyes on you (whether you are aware of it or not) and the fate of one lucky young woman amongst them unknown. I have come up with some simple, stylish (and affordable) outfit ideas that could either be used for one of the many appearances the girls will be participating in around Baton Rouge or for the final rehearsals for the telecast that are open to the public. I personally have a love for stripes and polka dots, and I absolutely love the pairing of polka dots with yellow. Pairing a white polka dot skirt with a loose black shirt or a black polka dot skirt and loose white tank with a yellow blazer can make such a simple fashion statement bursting with style and color.
A perfect and colorful appearance or rehearsal look is pairing white culotte pants with a flowing blue top and finishing the look with gorgeous pink heels. With these subtle pops of color, eyes and heads will surely turn.
Another good example of popping color is pairing a light chambray denim dress with a soft red blazer. Finish the look with some casual blush colored heels and a sexy red lip.
A very simple, chic look is a polka dot dress with a two-toned heel. There's a lot of notions that the contestants have to be in the most expensive and elaborate outfits ever to prove they are stylish and put together enough to be Miss USA. But you don't have to break the bank to be stylish.
And finally, to keep it uber casual but chic at rehearsals, one idea is to take a bomber jacket and finish the look with a simple white t-shirt, a pair of straight denim jeans, and a gorgeous black heel.
