I love a good rainy day. We don’t get them often in Los Angeles, so when it does rain it makes everyone go crazy (in a good way!). I, for one, absolutely love the rain. Call me crazy, but rain actually puts me in a good mood! Plus it gives me an excuse to bring out my trench coat which I don’t get to do often.
Trench coats are a classic staple piece. They are the perfect transition coats for spring and fall. I will admit that I have never owned many trench coats, but after visiting Ireland for the first time in 2013 and stocking up on some over there, I’ve adapted them into my style at home in Los Angeles, especially when the weather turns.
In the fall, my favorite way to wear a trench is with a sweater and thigh high boots. The tall boots with the coat elongates the look of my legs, plus is a way to welcome the cooler weather. In the spring, however, I like to pair a trench coat is with a sweater and a skirt with some flirty heels.
This trench coat by REDValentino may be my favorite. Why? It’s embellished with beautiful birds on the shoulder! I love when a sophisticated staple embraces a unique feel as it takes it to another level. I love how REDValentino can take a classic piece and add a standout twist to it (another example is the REDValentino floral collar I wore in this post). I cannot wait to wear this coat through the fall and into the new year. It may be winter, but there’s a little hint of spring with those beautiful birds.
