A Scandinavian Feast – Hamptons Day 1

Since I am Danish (my grandfather immigrated from Egebæksvang, Denmark), I was extremely excited that the main cuisine at The Maidstone Hotel is Scandinavian. Some people do not really know what Scandinavian cuisine entails, and finding Scandinavian restaurants is not as easy as finding a pizza parlor or sushi bar. Scandinavian cuisine features a lot of meat, specifically steak and lamb, and a lot of fish, especially herring. We adorn most of our meals with horseradish and dill, and our main bread is pumpernickel. We eat our sandwiches and omelettes open faced (only one piece of bread for sandwiches on the bottom), and we love to pickle our vegetables. Eating at The Maidstone Hotel's Living Room restaurant brought me back to when I was a child, when we would visit my Mormor and Morfar every Sunday and sit down to a delicious home cooked Danish meal. Since I am a pescetarian, I do not eat meat. I do, however, eat fish and eggs thus I still felt right at home with plenty of options for me on the menu.
