Our Roman Hideaway // Hotel Vilòn

Buongiorno, Italia! From the bustling cobblestone streets filled with many cafes, gelaterias, piazzas, and people speaking Italian quite fast to the ancient ruins, picturesque rooftops, and the heat hovering over the Italian capital, Rome was one city on my bucket list that I had yet to venture to in Italy. Our Italian honeymoon took us to northern Italy where we flew into Milan and flew out of Venice, bypassing Rome altogether. For this trip, we chosen a brand new luxury gem hidden in the central part of the city - Hotel Vilòn.

THE HOTEL & OUR STAY

As Los Angeles residents, we are used to there being hidden entryways and more subdued entrances into some of the best hot spots around the city. These are the kind of hot spots that make you feel like a celeb where you can dash in and out incognito. That's how the entrance to Hotel Vilòn makes you feel. On a private and quiet one-way street in the heart of Rome, the hotel's luxurious and modern charm lies behind a trimmed, unsuspecting archway surrounded by luxe red curtains. [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="16478,16481"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="16482,16483"] Opened one month before our arrival in March 2018 and already a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Hotel Vilòn is located directly across from Palazzo Borghese (some rooms even overlook the gardens!). Everything inside Hotel Vilòn is intimate but luxurious, from the solo check-in desk, to the bar and living room, to the alfresco courtyard, to the dining room, to the suites themselves. Everything feels brand new, and I suspect everything will continue to feel brand new for years to come. Our Deluxe room on the top floor had rooftop views of Rome, but our room felt like a mini art gallery with gorgeous paintings on all four walls and modernly sleek, chic furniture and marble bathroom. [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="16454,16457"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="16456,16451"] Each day we started our mornings with freshly made cacio e pepe (cheese and pepper) eggs and fresh squeezed blood orange juice (seriously, now I am obsessed) prepared by the chef, and we began each evening with a drink at the bar before heading out to dinner. The staff are all extremely attentive and believe in old-world Italian hospitality, with those at the front desk always remembering Tor and I's names each time we left and came back, and the bartender always remembering our favorite drinks (rosé for me, gin & tonic for Tor). [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="16475,16462"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="16461,16467"] [caption_box id="3"]

It was the perfect place for us to rest our jet-lagged bodies but also hop out and visit Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and go shopping at a moment's notice since all those stops are close by. There really is no better hotel to indulge in all your Roman fantasies than Hotel Vilòn. Thank you to Hotel Vilòn for hosting our stay. As always, opinions are my own. Photos by Torrance Coombs and myself.

That polka dot dress is stunning on you! When you started your blog, was it always part of your plan to be a hybrid fashion/travel site, or did it just evolve along the way? Because I’m so glad it did! I’ve been looking at your travel guide for Toromto for inspiration for an upcoming trip 🙂

      Thank you Erika!

My site actually started as a fashion and style site, with hopes that one day I could feature travel just as much. I’ve been so grateful for all of our travel opportunities that have led The A List to what it is today!
