Celebrating my husband’s birthday would not have been complete without a romantic birthday dinner. Pretty much every dinner we had in Cabo was a romantic, intimate affair but I wanted his actual birthday dinner to feel really special, and luckily we got to indulge in one.
For our romantic birthday dinner for Tor, we headed over to Esperanza’s sister (and recently opened) property – Chileno Bay Resort. We arrived about a half hour early for our dinner reservation so we could walk around the resort, which just opened up this past February. The resort has a very modern approach compared to its sister resort, with a palette of whites, black, and blues. It also boasts one of the only swimmable beaches in Cabo, as well as a unique salt inhalation room in the spa that is lined with Himalayan salt blocks.
After exploring the resort, and immediately feeling a desire to return to Cabo to stay at Chileno Bay, it was time to head over to their main restaurant Comal for our romantic birthday dinner for Tor. The sun was just beginning to set, which really added to the ambiance of our dinner location. With a clear view of the ocean (and stars) and a pink sunset, we couldn’t have asked for a better birthday dinner setting.
I am normally so bad with names, but I remembered our waiter’s name at Comal because he was so friendly, knowledgable, and a lot of fun. His name was Elias, and he knew so much about Napa wines which helped us decide which bottle to order to toast to Tor. He also convinced me to order more totoaba, which was a fish that Tor and I were not familiar with at all prior to our visit to Cabo. Now we couldn’t get enough of it!
After celebrating a romantic evening together at Chileno Bay and dining on chocolate tortillas (oh you bet I ate them all!) and concluding our meal with a decadent Brazilian hot chocolate made at our table by Elias himself (I documented it all on my Instagram story!), Tor and I walked hand in hand under the stars. It couldn’t have been a more wonderful, private evening for us to celebrate.
As my husband turns another year older, I find myself even more grateful than before for getting to spend another year with him. We are approaching seven years of being together next month, and I have loved every second we have spent together and every adventure we have embarked on as a couple. As a little girl, I always dreamed about what it would be like to be in love. Now I know what that feels like, except back then I didn’t realize you could fall even more in love with someone over time. I find myself falling more and more in love with my husband with each year that passes as well as becoming prouder and prouder of him. I have loved watching him grow as a person and as an actor. I have loved celebrating his achievements, his successes, but also being there for him for the downs. Tor is usually pretty low-key and is never really big on a huge birthday celebration, but I am so happy I was able to steal him away to Cabo for a few days to celebrate him as he deserves it more than he will ever admit. Happy birthday Tor! Here’s to many more birthdays that we get to celebrate together.

That food looks amazing, Torrance looks very handsome, as always, and you always look so beautiful! 🙂 That dress may be my second favorite of yours from your Cabo trip…my favorite is still the short off-the-shoulder rose-printed one 🙂
Thank you Christle! And thanks about the dress – it’s definitely one of my favorites this summer!
All of your outfits are gorgeous on you, but those are definitely my two favorite casual dresses that I’ve seen you in 🙂 (Also, thanks for spelling my name right! Everyone else assumes the l is an i and calls me Christie.)
Hi Alyssa, I wrote you this a few days ago but you didn’t reply me so, here it goes again…
I’m new in your blog, the first time I saw you was on a post of your husband, I love Reign so I was kind of stalking all of the Instagram accounts of the actors on it. So I saw your profile and I fell in love with your style and your beautiful photography.
I think you are absolutely gorgeous and I love you and Torr, you’re so cute, you’re a power couple.
Your photos are always amazing, your photographers are really good and you are very beautiful so in every photo you look incredible (with or without makeup).
I wanted to know if you use an app or do you use Photoshop to edit your photos because they always have a sweet kind of blue tone or effect.
I loved all the details on your post! On your next trip you should come to Colombia.
I apologize Paula, for I did not see your initial message.
Thank you so much for your sweet comments!
For my photos on the blog, I edit them in Lightroom and for Instagram I use Lightroom Mobile (no Photoshop). I created my own filter in Lightroom which I then also use in Lightroom Mobile to keep all of my pictures consistent. Hope that helps!
Hello, I am a girl from Argentina and I would like to know, which are the countries that you liked the most, I love your blog! Tell Tor to take very good photos. I’m sorry, I do not speak English very well.
Saludos!
Hi Lu! Nice to meet you!
I have loved visiting Iceland, Mexico, the UK (London is my favorite city), and my family’s home country of Denmark. Argentina is certainly on our list!
Alyssa, these photos are gorgeous as always and I loved ‘coming along’ on your vacation via Insta stories! Happy you two got to celebrate Torrance’s birthday in such a lovely way; you continue to inspire this single girl that she’ll find a special love one day like yours xx
Aww thank you so much, Nicole! Thanks for following along! And I believe you will definitely find that special love someday 🙂
