When you think of Fourth of July style, of course the colors red, white, and blue come to mind. This year, we’ll be spending Fourth of July up in Canada but that didn’t stop me from reflecting a little patriotism into my style.
When I think about Fourth of July style, I usually think of blue and white stripes with a strong red lip and red accessories. I couldn’t pass the chance to don layers of ruffles, as ruffles have been a huge trend this year, so I paired a ruffle white shirt with one of my favorite skirts of the season. I’m also a fan of red and white stripes too, particularly dresses such as this one and I LOVE this one (and it’s on sale!). The beauty about all of these pieces is they can be worn all summer long.
Our Fourth of July plans vary every year. One year, I’d love to one day gather a bunch of friends and rent a cabin somewhere in California or even Montana or Idaho. This year, we’ll actually be in Canada and visiting a part of British Columbia I have yet to discover (which I am really excited about!), but we won’t be far from the US border so I am expecting to see some fireworks from a distance.
Normally every year for Fourth of July, I end up doing a flag cake that Food Network magazine encourages their readers to try (see last year’s attempt here). This year I didn’t get that chance, as we were traveling. Next year, I plan on making an elaborate flag cake from my own recipe.
