Spots of Color

What an incredible past few days! This past weekend marked five years since T first reached out to me on social media (yes, we met on Twitter in 2010). This past weekend we also continued our house hunting search. Seriously I had no idea how emotional finding a house is! I happen to be an emotional person anyway, but darn! This past weekend I was put to the test! After a couple of days of crazy emotions, a little bit of anxiety, and a bunch of measurement crunching, T and I are happy to say....... WE BOUGHT A HOUSE! Of course things are never officially set in stone at first, and of course there's always that slight chance something could go wrong or fall through, but days like this one make me realize how fast life goes. How am I already at this point in my life where I am buying my first home? It seems like just last week I was only playing "House" with my sister! But just hearing the words "They accepted your offer" gave me so much joy (and a little bit of nerves!). This was a day we had been thinking about for the past year or so. And it was certainly a moment that we will not forget. We were walking around our neighborhood trying to kill time before the deadline for our offer approached. T brought his camera and we began to shoot some pictures for the blog. Towards the end of the quick shoot, I looked at my phone to see if there was any update. I had missed a few text messages but there it was in plain view - we were now homeowners! I began to cry and immediately leapt into T's arms. Since this is our first house, of course we are a bit nervous and cautious. But I cannot wait to make it our own! And now to the dress (which may possibly be my favorite summer dress and it's not even summer yet)! While nervously prancing around our current neighborhood, T and I did a quick shoot in this gorgeous rainbow pleated dress by 1.Slate. I first spotted this dress while browsing Nordstrom's website and instantly became obsessed. I loved all the spots of color throughout the dress. The spots of color happened to match my mood since I was happy, nervous, excited, and a little sad [about maybe leaving our apartment of 3 years]. The dress itself is super flowy, which is a MUST for me. The dress features a spaghetti strap racerback, but it was a bit chilly in the breeze so I finished the look with one of my favorite coverlets that also happened to match the blue in the dress! I know I promised a lot of white pieces this summer, but sometimes pops of color is just what the doctor ordered (or in my case, what I ordered!). WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!

Of course things are never officially set in stone at first, and of course there’s always that slight chance something could go wrong or fall through, but days like this one make me realize how fast life goes. I seem fell in love with this dress. I agree that we shouldn’t edit in a photoshop our shortcomings. I am a photographer and I always try to keep texture of skin. Only if it not photoshots in fairy tale style.
