Desert Sun

I left Toronto with 5 inches of snow on the ground for the sunny, clear skies of the open desert when I traveled to Las Vegas. To be fair, it wasn't THAT warm in Vegas but compared to Toronto it certainly felt like springtime to me! Normally I drive to Las Vegas from Los Angeles, but since I was coming in from Toronto this time I obviously had no choice but to fly in (with a stopover in Chicago that turned out to be a nightmare on my return). The desert both amazes and frightens me. I grew up in New Jersey so desert scenery was so foreign to me when I moved to the west coast, and I am still fascinated by it years later. But it also frightens me because there are snakes (one of my biggest phobias) which is why I wore knee high boots when I visited the desert! I have friends in Pahrump (about an hour from Las Vegas by the border of California and Nevada) and I am always in awe of the mountains and desert landscape on my drive over there, so I had to stop and take advantage of it and shoot some pics with my friend Zac.
