Miss Universe Recap + A Giveaway!

This past weekend, I flew down to Miami to attend the 63rd annual Miss Universe pageant. First of all, congratulations to Colombia, Paulina Vega, on being crowned the new Miss Universe! She nailed every part of the competition and caught T and I's attention right away. She is going to have a fantastic reign. Second, I must congratulate my friend Miss USA, Nia Sanchez, on placing 1st runner up! I know from experience how placing 1st runner up can be super heartbreaking, but she should be so proud for bringing USA back into the top 5 and for representing our country with such poise, grace, and beauty. Third, I must profess my love to Miss Canada, Chanel Beckenlehner, for having what I feel is the best Miss Canada national costume in Miss Universe history (if you have not seen it, here's a picture). I am a huge hockey fan and spend a lot of my time in Toronto and Vancouver, plus my beau is half Canadian, so naturally I had to also give my support to her. And lastly, I must also profess my love to Miss Spain, Desirée Cordero, for not only being such a competitor and beautiful young woman but also for portraying Isabel of Castile as her national costume. I was so happy to see someone take a historical route with their national costume and portray a famous monarch - I'm a history nerd, I can't help it!. Plus, my national costume as Miss USA was George Washington so you can see why I love how someone else also went with a historical figure. I always love attending the Miss Universe pageant because I get to meet people from all over the world in one place, plus it brings back memories from my own Miss Universe experience in 2011 in São Paulo, Brazil.
