Red carpet cupcakes

The 86th annual Academy Awards air tonight! And while numerous actors and actresses in Hollywood will be flocking to the Dolby Theatre in glamorous gowns and tuxedos, we the viewers get to sit back on our couches munching away on some yummy goodness. No viewing party is complete without a few sweets to nibble on during the show. Here is one easy way to make cute red carpet cupcakes for the Oscars or any other awards show viewing party!
All you need:
 Cupcake pan
 2 mixing bowls
 2 whisks
1 box red velvet cake mix (and respective ingredients)
1 box white cake mix (and respective ingredients)
 1 box of food coloring
 Vanilla frosting
And my secret weapon:
 Wilton Two-Tone Cupcake Insert
Preparing the batter Preheat your oven to 350F. Line your cupcake pan with baking cups. Next, place the two-tone cupcake inserts over your cupcake pan. Set aside. In one mixing bowl, follow the directions on making the red velvet cake mix. Set aside with the whisk used to mix the red velvet batter. Next, in another mixing bowl with another whisk, follow the directions on making the white cake mix. MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE WHISKS SEPARATE. Pouring the white cake batter Gently pour the white cake batter on the exterior of the cupcake inserts until just below the top of the baking cup. If you're uncomfortable with using a pouring cup, you can use a very small spoon. You can use another small spoon (not the same one used for the white cake batter) or you can use an icing bag/tool to pour in the batter. Let them cool (My trick is I put the cupcake pan in the freezer or refrigerator to cool quicker). Processed with VSCOcam with s1 preset Take out the yellow food coloring from the food coloring box. Color the vanilla icing with the yellow coloring. Decorate the tops of the cupcakes with the yellow icing. Decorate with stars or edible glitter. Hi Alyssa! I’d like to say that your blog is amazing and ask you if I don’t find your “secret weapon”, the Two-tone cupcake insert, is there another easy way to put the two colors in a cupcake??
